It Started with a Flour Covered Kitchen…
Baking has long been a treasured hobby and one I enjoy sharing with my young niece and nephews. One day after baking with my 4- and 2-year old nephews, Luke and Jack, their mom said Luke started asking to help in the kitchen more. He always made sure to remind her to, “Check the directions!” too.
Knowing how independent children like to be, I wondered:
Can you make recipe directions using only pictures and symbols so children who don’t read can follow along?
Can delicious baked goods be created if the only step is: Stir with the intensity of a 4-year old?
After 6 attempts at a vanilla cupcake and 4 poorly sketched picture-only recipe renditions, the answer was clear:
YES, you can.
BakeBook Desserts’ tested, tasted, and perfected recipes help children be more independent and confident in the kitchen — skills that pour over into other areas of life.
I had an amazing time creating these recipes, and my family learned there is such a thing as too much chocolate… although my godson would disagree!
I sincerely hope BakeBook Desserts will help you and your family create cherished memories in the kitchen, much like I am with mine.
So what are you waiting for?
Let’s get baking!

To all my family and friends for helping make this idea a reality…
